Ivan The Tolerable

To call Ivan The Tolerable “prolific” would be an understatement! The solo guise of Oli Heffernan releases on average eight or nine albums a year, always an inspiring and constant stream of aural ideas from the outer reaches.

And the sound? It journeys through subtle electronics from the ambient end of krautrock, washes of shoegaze guitars, motorik rhythmic pulses, jazz flourishes and intense noise rock breakdowns, all the while maintaining a distinct sonic identity.

Outside of Ivan the Tolerable, Heffernan has a storied career in other projects, including Year of Birds, King Champion Sounds, University Challenged, Houseplants and Detective Instinct while collaborating with the likes of Mike Watt (Minutemen), Kevin Branstetter (Trumans Water), Jad Fair (Half Japanese), GW Sok (The Ex) and Wreckless Eric.

With this influence, it makes it even more of a bizarre contradiction that Ivan The Tolerable remains underground and largely unknown.

Bringing a full band show to Psychic Dancehall, this is not to be missed.
