Madrigirl
As Madrigirl, genre-defying oboist and multi-instrumentalist Jude Rees fuses medieval sounds and instruments with analogue circuits and loops. She weaves ancient polyphony into new compositions and improvisations that collide the ancient, the modern and the future.
The set features shawms, English border bagpipes, crumhorns, hurdy gurdy, hand percussion, analogue synths, electronics and vocals.
While she is new as a solo artist, Rees has collaborated with some of the luminaries of the British folk scene and guested on numerous albums and tours. Some film, theatre and live event credits include The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim (for Warner Bros.), The Royal Shakespeare Company (various), Royal Bastards: Rise of the Tudors (for Sky Arts) and touring with three different BBC Radio2 nominated folk acts (Pilgrims’ Way, Will Pound and Jim Moray).
Witness her craft contemporary music on ancient instruments.
